Wallhaven
Wallpapers people keep coming back for—if you care about image quality, start here. A vast HD wallpaper community with fine filters by resolution, color and tags.
Site Overview
wallhaven is a community site focused on wallpaper sharing, featuring high-resolution wallpapers and 4K wallpapers—great for changing the backgrounds on computers and phones.
Free wallpapers can be downloaded freely, the site has almost no ads, and tags and resolutions are finely filtered, making images easy to find.
Core Features
1. Three browsing paths: Latest, Top, and Random
You can view the latest uploads, the popular wallpapers list, or browse random wallpapers. When changing a desktop wallpaper or phone wallpaper, a casual browse can turn up something suitable.
2. Fine filtering by tags, resolution, and aspect ratio
Wallpaper search supports filtering by tags, minimum resolution, aspect ratio, color, and more. If you want computer wallpapers at 1920×1080 or a wider aspect ratio, you can lock the conditions down directly.
3. Clear SFW / Sketchy / NSFW ratings
Content is separated by purity, and anime wallpapers, landscapes, and people can also be collected by category. At work you can view only safe content and loosen the restrictions at home—both are easy to control.
4. Favorites, uploads, and a free API are all available
After logging in, you can create collections, upload submissions, and participate in tagging. Developers can also use the official API to search the wallpaper library, and personal wallpaper-changing scripts are also common.
Pricing Model

Comparison with Similar Platforms
Unique advantages
- Strong filtering capabilities: combining resolution, ratio, tags, and purity makes wallpaper downloads precisely targeted.
- Large library and frequent updates: official statistics show over a million wallpapers, and page views are also high.
- Clean interface: the official site has almost no ads, so there is little distraction when changing ultra-HD wallpapers.
Practical highlights
- Toplist and Random are good for quickly picking images when you "don't know what you want."
- The free API makes it convenient to build automatic wallpaper changing yourself, which is easier than purely clicking on the web page.
Objective shortcomings
- It is not a royalty-free stock library: the footer states that image copyright remains with the original authors; it is suitable for use as wallpaper, but commercial posters and printing require you to verify rights yourself.
- A lot of explicit content: NSFW requires account-related settings; in addition, third-party apps charge fees, which can easily be mistaken for the official site requiring payment.

FAQ
Q: Can wallhaven images be used commercially directly? A: Do not assume so. It is a wallpaper site, and copyright belongs to the original authors. Changing your personal desktop is generally fine, but commercial use and redistribution require you to confirm authorization yourself.
Q: Do I have to register to download images? A: Ordinary SFW browsing and downloading have a low barrier. Viewing NSFW, using full filtering preferences, favorites, uploads, and similar features usually require an account.
Q: How is it different from Pexels and Unsplash? A: The latter two lean toward royalty-free stock sites; wallhaven specializes in a wallpaper library, with resolutions and compositions more suited to desktops, and its licensing model is not the same.
Q: Is there an official mobile app? A: The official FAQ indicates there is no official app. Apps in stores with the same name or with VIP are mostly third-party; features and charges are subject to that app's description.
Q: Can I mass-scrape images and download like crazy? A: The official site does not encourage large-scale scripted scraping. The site runs on limited resources, and abuse may affect everyone's use; the API has reasonable uses, so don't treat it as a library-scraping tool.
Q: Can AI-generated images be uploaded? A: The rules explicitly prohibit uploading AI-generated images. You may also encounter historical existing content when searching; please upload according to the current rules.
